Welcome to Seaside Chats, a website created to educate and share information about current marine science concerns, research, and potential solutions. Sophia has created this space to share knowledge and raise awareness about the urgent issues facing our oceans because she believes knowledge about marine science can empower us all to take and demand action. Seaside Chats will host a wide range of research and perspectives from across the world, making the complexities of the crisis approachable and relatable.

Sophia is a Masters candidate currently studying at James Cook University in Queensland, Australia. Originally from the United States, she worked at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science investigating aquaculture in the Chesapeake Bay. After graduation, she moved to New England. At Yale University, she studied ocean acidification and the role of oyster reefs in the Long Island Sound. Now she is in Australia, researching the changing environment and its impact on various species.
